Alibaba just rolled another massive AI machine toward the ring — and judging by the early hype surrounding Qwen 3.8, the competition may want to start protecting its face.

The Qwen team has reportedly unveiled Qwen3.8-Max-Preview, an early version of what is expected to become the company’s next flagship artificial-intelligence model. Reports say the full system could contain approximately 2.4 trillion parameters, making it one of the largest AI models ever publicly discussed.

And no — this thing apparently isn’t being built just to write polite emails and tell you how long to cook chicken.

Alibaba is reportedly positioning Qwen 3.8 as a serious upgrade for software development, data analysis, office automation and complicated multi-step assignments. In other words, it wants to build the website, inspect the spreadsheet, prepare the presentation and possibly explain why your original plan was terrible.

The preview is said to be accessible through Alibaba’s Token Plan, Qoder and QoderWork services while developers wait for the wider release.

Early reports are repeating major performance claims, but no complete collection of public Qwen 3.8 benchmark scores was available at the time of writing. Alibaba’s official Model Studio documentation, last updated July 15, still prominently listed Qwen 3.7 Max rather than Qwen 3.8 among its currently documented flagship models.

So yeah, the new contender looks enormous — but until reviewers get their hands on it, the tale of the tape remains suspiciously blank.
