Anthropic could be preparing to unleash Claude Opus 5 as soon as today — and the AI crowd is watching every model menu, cloud listing and company announcement like it’s the final seconds of a championship fight.

There has been no official confirmation from Anthropic, so nobody should start popping the champagne just yet. The company’s official Claude model catalog currently lists Claude Opus 4.8 as its newest Opus-tier model.

But here’s where things get interesting.
