Anthropic Reportedly Preparing a Massive Claude Model Drop — And It Could Be Days Away

Anthropic may be getting ready to unleash not one, not two, but THREE upgraded Claude models—and if the latest AI-world chatter is accurate, the rollout could happen within days.

Abacus.AI CEO Bindu Reddy sent the rumor mill into overdrive after claiming on X that Anthropic is preparing to release Claude Opus 5.1, Claude Sonnet 5.1 and Claude Fable 5.1.

“Multiple new Anthropic models dropping in the next few days — Opus 5.1 — Sonnet 5.1 — Fable 5.1,” Reddy wrote.

She also made some seriously bold performance predictions, claiming the updated Opus and Sonnet models will reverse alleged regressions and be strictly better than the older Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 4.6.

And Fable 5.1? According to Reddy, Anthropic’s heavyweight model is coming straight for the crown and could top the AI leaderboards.

Anthropic’s Alleged Triple Drop

Anthropic has not officially announced any of these 5.1 models. There is currently no company blog post, confirmed release date or official benchmark sheet establishing the reported performance gains.

Reddy is a prominent figure in the AI industry and frequently comments on upcoming models, but her post remains an unconfirmed report. Until Anthropic walks onto the digital stage with an announcement of its own, the supposed release window and performance claims should be treated as rumor—not fact.

Anthropic’s official documentation currently lists Claude Fable 5, Claude Opus 5 and Claude Sonnet 5 as its leading model family. Sonnet is positioned as the speed-and-intelligence sweet spot, Opus targets sophisticated coding and enterprise work, and Fable sits at the top for long-running intelligent agents.

Why Would Anthropic Release 5.1 So Quickly?

Point updates often allow AI companies to fix frustrating behavior, sharpen instruction-following and improve real-world performance without waiting for an entirely new model generation.

That could be especially important if Anthropic believes users have noticed weaknesses—or “regressions”—in newer Claude releases. An update that preserves the newest capabilities while restoring behaviors people preferred in earlier models could be a major win.

A 5.1 version capable of topping independent leaderboards could give Anthropic a shiny new “most intelligent model” talking point—and potentially reshape which model developers choose for their toughest jobs.

Of course, “top the leaderboards” is a huge claim. Different benchmarks measure different abilities, and a model that dominates coding may not necessarily lead in creative writing, factual accuracy, tool use or cost efficiency.

Something may be cooking inside Anthropic’s model kitchen, and the rumored menu is stacked. Opus 5.1, Sonnet 5.1 and Fable 5.1 could give Claude users improvements across speed, reliability, coding and deep reasoning.
